Another walk.. and pretty flowers.

I took Thelma Lou on another long walk. It was somewhere between 1.25 and 1.5 miles round trip (the "landmark" that we turned around at wasn't in existence when google took it's satellite pictures so it's hard to calculate exactly how far we went).

There were lots of downed trees from the storm last night. I'll have to get a picture of the huge one that's across the street leaning, just waiting to crush something.

For a while I've been looking for a tutorial on how to make this kind of fabric flower:

But the closest thing I can find is this kind:

So I tried those instructions.. and I was actually quite happy. It was very quick to make and if you don't squish it down and out (but rather together) then you don't get that "line" across the center.


I also found a pattern for these cute t-shirt mums. The instructions are somewhat confusing so mine turned out smaller than the ones in the picture (because it says something about cutting 60 strips, I think, which sounds like a ridiculously large amount. But it also says that a small one uses 2 strips so I only paid attention to the images).
